Faces of the News: Cat Arambulo-Antonio
Socialite Cat Arambulo-Antonio’s social media influence is far from stellar these days. Antonio caught the ire of social media — ironically where she is considered a big influencer — after she filmed herself on Instragram cursing at hapless commuters left stranded on Day One of the government’s Luzon-wide community quarantine to fight the spread of the new coronavirus disease, COVID-19.
On her now deleted Instagram story, Antonio berated the commuters, mostly workers, for coming out on the streets in defiance of the government’s bid to keep people home and safe from COVID-19.
“Why can’t you motherf*ckers just stay at home. Stay at home? Don’t you guys get it?” she said.
Netizens did not take kindly to her rant and slammed Antonio for her insensitivity and for making such remarks from the comfort of her luxurious home.
Antonio has since apologized for “being insensitive” as she made it clear that she did “not mean to undermine anyone —hurt and offend everyone.” Antonio also apologized to “names and brands” she had been endorsing, one of which decried her remarks as “insensitive and uncalled for during a time of crisis.”
