LUCENA CITY – Another suspected carrier of coronavirus disease or COVID-19, classified as “patient under investigation” in Quezon province, has died pending the result of the laboratory test, health authorities revealed.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) recorded as of 5 p.m. Saturday (March 21) that the patient died from severe pneumonia. The IPHO did not provide other details.
The first mortality from the virus in the province also died from the same respiratory illness.
Pending laboratory test results, both were still counted as PUIs.
The only confirmed case in Quezon, a 35-year-old male from this city who had a history of travel to Thailand and Singapore, remains in “stable condition and asymptomatic” in an undisclosed hospital.
The IPHO recorded a total of 61 PUIs as of Saturday.
At least 31 of the current PUIs were confined in various hospitals. The 17 PUIs with mild cases are under home quarantine and one has been transferred to a place not disclosed.
Ten PUIs recorded earlier have tested negative for the virus.
