MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong City government placed some areas and specific streets in the city under extreme enhanced community quarantine to avert the further spread of coronavirus disease.
Under Executive Order No. 7 series of 2020 signed by Mandaluyong Mayor Carmelita Abalos, which became public on Saturday, some areas in the city will be placed under heightened community quarantine to implement stringent measures for areas with persons under monitoring, persons under investigation for COVID-19 and areas with fatalities of coronavirus disease.
While the entire Luzon is placed under enhanced community quarantine, the local government opted to put other areas in Mandaluyong City under extreme enhanced community quarantine to lessen the risk of transmission of the respiratory disease to other communities.
Areas for complete closure are California Gardens, Palanca Compound and Gueventvill II.
Streets that would face complete closure are Paete Street, San Jose Street, Silay Street, Banahaw Street, Sinag Street, Mambajao Street and M. Cruz Street.
Streets with partial closure are Kanlaon Street, D.M Guevarra Street and Calbayog Street.
Under the quarantine, all residents are strictly ordered to stay in their homes except for medical workers, essential employees of supermarkets and other establishments offering services for basic goods, drivers of delivery goods and barangay health emergency response teams.
The quarantine also requires individuals to secure a valid pass, one per household, to allow them to go to supermarkets, pharmacies and other essential establishments.
The local government will also supply food and other essential items to residents.
The City Health Department personnel will regularly check residents of areas under enhanced community quarantine.
Those who will violate the extreme community quarantine will be arrested and face appropriate charges.
Aside from Mandaluyong City, the Quezon City government also placed two of its barangays under enhanced community quarantine after recording three confirmed cases of coronavirus disease each in Barangay Kalusugan and Barangay Tandang Sora.
