Petron assures steady supply of petroleum products

MANILA, Philippines — Petron, on Saturday, assured the public that it has a steady fuel supply in view of the COVID-19 crisis that has put Luzon and some parts of Visayas and Mindanao under enhanced community quarantine.

Ramon S. Ang, president and CEO of Petron, said that there will be continuous supply of petroleum products as the Philippines employing stringier measures to combat COVID-19.

“So far, our entire supply chain is working overtime to ensure that enough products are produced at our refinery. Vessels are continuously loaded so that our terminals are filled, and tank truck operations remain consistent,” said Ang in a statement.

“We are also trying our best to keep as many of our stations open and filled as possible while putting the safety and well-being of our employees first.”

Petron is the country’s largest refinery with its Bataan refinery producing 180,000 barrels a day making up nearly 30 percent of the Philippines’ petroleum requirements.

That production goes to 30 terminals and 2,400 stations throughout the country.

Ang also called for calm amid the crisis and that there’s no need to panic assuring the public that his company will meet the demands.

“Let me reiterate that there is no need to panic. We will step up and we will get through this together. In these critical times, rest assured that basic necessities will be delivered and our brave front liners will reach their destinations,” said Ang.

He added that Petron has already implemented a work-from-home setup for its Luzon-based offices to ensure the employees’ safety.

Its office-based skeletal force, service station personnel, tank truck drivers and helpers have been given necessary protocols to ensure that their health is not being put on danger.
