MANILA, Philippines — A freelance staff member of GMA Network has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the media firm confirmed Saturday.
In a statement posted on the network’s radio station dzBB, the TV Network said the freelance production talent and is now receiving medication at a hospital.
“The Network is in close coordination with the Department of Health and local government unit through the barangay officials to ensure that all necessary protocols are being followed in addressing the situation,” read the statement.

GMA said the freelance staffer last visited GMA Network’s Annex Building on Feb. 28.
The TV network has also informed the close contacts of the talent. The health conditions of the close contacts will also be monitored by GMA.
GMA Network also assured its employees that they will disinfect the areas that frequented by the freelance employee.
