MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines’ premier fish center is now implementing stricter rules amid growing coronavirus cases in the country.
The Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC) said in a document that it implements safety measures such as the wearing of face mask, limiting the number of workers in the market halls and other areas of the 47.6-hectare facility “to ensure social distancing.”
The NFPC, which is under the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority, said it has also suspended the operations of pedicab inside the complex.
In the event an infection occurs, the management has a designated Isolation Area Facility.
“The IAF shall serve as holding area for persons most likely to be candidate person under investigation,” it said in the document released to media.
Meantime, it asked PLt. Col Melvin Laguros, chief of Navotas maritime police station, to provide at least two roving personnel to help secure the fish complex.
