MANILA, Philippines — Permanent employees of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will receive their March 30-pay early to aid them during the prevailing enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
This was announced Friday by DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, who said: “This is our way of showing solidarity with our workers during these tough times. Some of our employees are even working round-the-clock as transportation concerns remain vital and on top of the matter. This is our way of showing that we care for them and their loved ones until such time we altogether put an end to this COVID-19 crisis.”
Transportation Undersecretary for Finance Garry de Guzman said in a statement they already released their regular employees’ end of month salary on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, DOTr said its job order and contract of service workers will get their end of month pay after their respective heads submit the list of hired contractual workers.
De Guzman said they are also coordinating with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to allow them to give the 13-month pay of their workers in advance.
“We are closely working with DBM on this matter. We have already processed in advance the paperwork for eventual release should DBM give their guidelines and go signal,” De Guzman said.
