CEBU CITY – A COVID-19 Center will soon open its doors to patients in Cebu and other parts of the Visayas.
Officials of the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-ADC) agreed to allow the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) to use its satellite school in General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City without any fees, rentals or similar charges.
Dr. Jaime Bernadas, DOH-7 director, and Fr. Manuel Uy, S.J., SHS-ADC school president, signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the use of the school building.
“The SHS-ADC shall allow the DOH, its authorized personnel, and representatives, to access and use one of its buildings located inside the premises of the SHS-ADC Satellite School situated in General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City,” the MOA read.
The agreement said DOH shall be in charge of setting up and maintaining the site, including the necessary manpower complement and logistics, which shall be composed of a quarantine area of 50 beds, triage area for patients, temporary laboratory facility for testing of COVID-19, DOH Operation Center, equipment, machinery, and related appendices or tools.
Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino and fellow Sacred Heart School alumni Mario King, and Edmund Liu worked to establish the COVID-19 Center in the region, which is composed of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental.
“This is the time when we need to lend a helping hand to fight COVID-19,” Dino said in a press statement.
