Curfew check leads to jail for couple with P34,000 in meth

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—Police arrested a man and his common-law wife for violating the curfew here and posession of drugs.

Jack Aranzado and Daisy Ann Arocha, both 30 and residents of Dauis town, yielded some 5 grams of shabu worth P34,000.

Lt. Col. Jimmy Aguisanda, acting police chief of Tagbilaran City, said police flagged down the couple  who were on board a motorcycle around 11:30 p.m. on March 19.

Police asked Aranzado why they were still on the road when a curfew was being implemented from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to keep COVID-19 away.

Police noticed a pouch tucked in Aranzado’s tummy and asked him to open it. Aranzado, who appeared to be nervous, heeded the order.

Aguinsada said police then found a pack of shabu inside the suspect’s pouch.

The two were taken into custody while awaiting the filing of charges.
