MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Friday announced that it will be limiting its international flights going to and from Manila to help foreigners and Filipino migrant workers leave the country amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine now being enforced.
To recall, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has allowed outbound flights but only for foreigners and Filipino workers who want to leave the country beyond 72 hours after the enhanced community quarantine was enforced on March 17.
The DOTr relaxed its earlier policy which only gave airline passengers 72 hours to leave the Philippines from the effectivity of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

From March 20 to March 31, PAL said it will temporarily halt services between Manila and Auckland, Port Moresby, Brisbane, Melbourne, Taipei, Jakarta, Bali, Sapporo, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dubai.
Meanwhile, flights to mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia remain suspended, PAL said.
PAL said they will announce updates for additional operational flights from April 1 to April 12 depending on developments on the enhanced community quarantine.
The airline added that charges for rebooking for passengers affected by the canceled flights from March 20 to March 31 have been waived.
“Any applicable fare difference is waived for passengers flying on the same cabin class on their rebooked flight,” read the statement.
“The same free rebooking and fare difference waiver privileges are also extended to passengers of flights outside the March 15 to April 30 period who are prevented from travel due to government-imposed travel bans, mandatory quarantine or flight cancellations due to COVID-19,” it added.
