Septuagenarian found dead with 30 stab wounds in Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines — A 74-year-old woman was found dead with 30 stab wounds inside her home in Parañaque City on Thursday evening, police said Friday.

A report from Parañaque police station identified the victim as Sonia Moral,  a resident of Barangay Marcelo Green.

The victim’s body was discovered after a neighbor, whose name was not disclosed in the report, told police that Moral was not responding to their calls at 10 p.m.

Members of Scene of the Crime Operatives then went to Moral’s house and found the victim’s body. Investigators also found dress jewelry at the crime scene.

There were no weapons found inside the victim’s house, police said.

Witnesses also told police that Moral was living alone and was being looked after by neighbors during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Motive

Parañaque police said they are looking into robbery as a possible motive for the murder.

“Possible motive is robbery though the police are puzzled why the suspect/s inflicted 30 stab wounds on a 74-year-old victim,” read the police report.

Parañaque police investigators will also interview other possible witnesses and requested for copies of closed-circuit television footage taken near the crime scene. Police probers will also look into other possible motives.
