CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– More than 200 airline passengers, most of them overseas Filipino workers returning to the Visayas region, remained stranded for almost a week now at the Clark International Airport (CRK) in Clark Freeport, agencies said in a joint statement on Friday.
The passengers remained at CRK due to community quarantines imposed in their respective provincial destinations against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to the state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Clark Development Corporation and Clark International Airport Corporation, and the private consortium Luzon International Premier Airport Development.
The stranded passengers now live in different locations inside the free port, provided with free food and lodging since March 19.
The agencies assured that Clark is a “haven” for the passengers.
“They (airline passengers) will be taken good care of while in Clark until the imposed lockdowns in their destinations are lifted,” the statement said.
Local governments and various national agencies have been assisting the stranded.
CRK closed domestic flights on Thursday night but it continues to operate for inbound and outbound international flights.
