Criticisms vs Vico Sotto expected as he solves admin’s shortcomings — Anakbayan

MANILA, Philippines – A group believes that the criticisms hurled towards Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto are expected since his progressive stance against the COVID-19 outbreak exposes the current administration’s shortcomings.

According to militant group Anakbayan, Sotto’s supposed pro-people stance in the face of the enhanced community quarantine due to the COVID-19 outbreak will surely earn the ire and disdain of administration supporters, including pro-admin blogger Margaux “Mocha” Uson and national government officials.

“Nailalantad ng mga medikal at siyentipikong hakbang na tinatahak na Mayor Vico ang kapabayaan at pagka-inutil ng rehimen,” Anakbayan spokesperson Alex Danday said in a statement.

“Ano pa nga ba ang aasahan nating tugon ng administrasyon at mga troll nito kundi atake at paninira? (What else can we expect from the administration and its troll farms but threats and attacks?)” she asked.

Earlier, reports came out that Uson faced backlash by sharing a fellow blogger’s post against Sotto, who asked the national government to allow tricycles to operate amid the enhanced community quarantine.

According to the Facebook post from Banat By, which Uson shared, Sotto is just being “pabebe” (playing cute) when he made the request.  He said that the city mayor should instead heed Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya’s advice to just be creative.

Uson eventually clarified that her Facebook blog “Mocha Uson Blog”, where the post was shared, is not solely managed by her — meaning that the posts on her eponymous blog may not immediately be her stand.

Sotto made the request after President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of an enhanced community quarantine all over Luzon last Monday paralyzed transportation as public utility vehicles were no longer allowed to make trips.

Netizens urged Uson to just follow her own advice — which was to help the government instead of criticizing people doing their jobs.  As of posting, her post has drawn at least 5,100 angry reacts as of writing, and 1,400 funny reacts meant to ridicule her.
