MANILA, Philippines – Fewer people ventured outside their homes four days after President Rodrigo Duterte’s order of a community quarantine in Metro Manila took effect.

Shorter queues for both vehicles and people were seen along several checkpoints on the eastern side of Metro Manila, particularly in the cities of Pasig, Marikina, and Antipolo.

While people were allowed to enter, they were subject to screening from health workers and police and military officers manning the checkpoints, including temperature scanning and interview on their purpose for leaving their residences.
