Towns on the northeast side of Laguna province on Wednesday imposed a lockdown amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mayors of Santa Maria, Mabitac, Famy, Siniloan, Pangil, Pakil, Paete, and Kalayaan met Wednesday and agreed to enforce a lockdown.
Mabitac mayor Ronald Sana announced on social media on Wednesday afternoon that the lockdown is in effect starting March 18, where no one is allowed to go out between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A separate social media post by Famy Mayor Edwin Pangilinan said only front liners are exempted from the lockdown. Pharmacies are allowed to operate until 10 p.m.
Passes will be issued by village officials to each household or family and should be used only to go out and buy food or medicine.
Tricycles are allowed to ply the roads with strictly one passenger only.
Tickets and IDs will be issued to essential workforce personnel and those transporting commodities to the towns.
Special permits will be given to merchants selling rice, meat, fish, water-refilling stations, grocery stores, and supermarkets.
Control points will be set up in Kapatalan village in Siniloan, Casinsin village in Pakil, Paete, and Kalayaan.
