MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to urge the public to stay at home, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has resorted to using a series of memes featuring South Korean actor Hyun Bin to convince people to follow the prevailing Luzon-wide “enhanced community quarantine”.
One of the memes showed a photo of Hyun Bin, who recently starred as Captain Ri in the hit series Crash Landing on You, with a text that reads: “Sabi ko nang wala ako sa checkpoint. Nasa bahay ako. Dito na lang tayo. Bawal lumabas (I told you I am not at the checkpoint. I am inside the house. Let’s stay here. You should not go out).”
The memes were released by the PNP Police Community Relations Group in its Facebook page.
President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced community quarantine across Luzon as the country grapples against the transmission of COVID-19, a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The intensified lockdown will be in effect from 12 a.m. of March 17 until 12 a.m. of April 13,
Under the enhanced community quarantine, all public transportations have also been suspended while work in offices – government and private – were either halted altogether or being carried out in a work-from-home arrangement.
