Laguna power, water utilities offer reprieve to COVID-19-weary consumers

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna—Utilities in Laguna province announced reprieves in bill payment deadlines to help alleviate the impact of a Luzon-wide quarantine against novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on consumers.

On Wednesday (March 18), Laguna Water District Aquatech Resources Corp. announced on social media that it would suspend disconnection of accounts with overdue payments from March 17 to April 15.

The move, the company said, would “ensure that customers will have water supply to maintain health and sanitation.”

Laguna Water on Tuesday (March 17) said there would be no disconnections for the duration of the Luzon-wide quarantine.

The First Laguna Electric Cooperative Inc. (Fleco), said there would be a 30-day extension of deadlines to pay electric bills starting with meter readings on Wednesday (March 18).

Fleco supplies electricity to the Laguna towns of Cavinti, Famy, Kalayaan, Lumban, Mabitac, Paete, Pagsanjan, Pakil, Pangil, Santa Maria and Siniloan in the province’s fourth district.
