Landbank urges clients to go digital during quarantine period

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) on Wednesday urged its clients to utilize its electronic and digital platforms while Luzon is under enhanced community quarantine triggered by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“During these challenging times, the health of our customers has become our number one priority. We urge everyone to use Landbank’s digital and online banking services in the safety of their homes as much as possible, instead of physically visiting our branches,” Landbank President and chief executive officer Cecilia Borromeo said in a statement.

Borromeo said these channels include the Landbank Mobile Banking App, iAccess, WeAccess, Electronic Tax Payment System and Phone Access, which offer services including viewing of account balance, transaction history, and transferring of funds.

Several Landbank branches will remain open to continue banking operations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m starting Wednesday.

Amid the enforced quarantine in the entire Luzon, which will end at midnight on April 13, Landbank skeleton staff in its head office and select branches still report for work to ensure that the bank’s services will continue.

Borromeo said Landbank branches are also observing screening procedures for clients, including temperature checks and provision of hand disinfectants prior to entry. She said those with temperature readings of 38°C and above will not be allowed to enter the bank.

Social distancing is also being observed as the bank limits the number of customers in seating capacity inside the branch premises, according to the bank executive.
