MANILA, Philippines — While the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continues to affect Luzon, residents can still expect generally fair weather in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In an early Wednesday weather update, Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas said no weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the next three to five days.
Aside from the northeast monsoon, the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Pagasa said that while the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern Luzon, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will still have fair weather but with a chance of rain.
For the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, warm weather with the possibility of isolated rain showers are expected, Pagasa said.
Temperature in Metro Manila will range from a low of 24 degrees Celsius to a high 33 degrees Celsius later in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm may prevail over Caraga, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro due to the easterlies.
No gale warning was raised but Pagasa still advised fishermen to coordinate with their respective local government units before heading out to sea, go especially in Luzon, where an enhanced community quarantine was declared due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.
The state weather bureau said the northern and eastern sections of the Philippines will have moderate northeast to east winds and moderate (1.2 to 2.5 meters) coastal waters while the rest of the country will have light to moderate light to moderate east to northeast winds and slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.1 meters) coastal waters.
