OVP’s shuttle service for Metro Manila COVID-19 medical frontliners starts run

MANILA, Philippines — The free shuttle service for health workers and frontliners in Metro Manila which was initiated by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) kicked off Wednesday morning.

A Facebook post from Vice President Leni Robredo said the shuttle service started its run at 6 a.m. and serviced six routes within Metro Manila.

The government has suspended public transport in Luzon following the declaration of an enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Pilot pa lang po ito ngayong umaga at pag-aaralan kung paano po pabubutihin ang serbisyo (This is just a pilot run this morning and we will still study how to improve our service),” Robredo said.

Here are the routes of the shuttles according to her Facebook post:

Route 1:

RITM Alabang — Magallanes SLEX MRT (via Osmeña Highway, via Quirino Ave.) — Taft Ave. LRT — PGH / UP-NIH — Lawton LRT — Carriedo LRT — Recto LRT — Tayuman LRT — Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center

Route 2:

At 11:30 a.m., the shuttle service starts at the endpoints of each route.

Robredo said health workers only have to present a valid identification card from the hospitals they are working in to be able to avail of the shuttle service.

Before boarding the vehicles, passengers will have to take a temperature check, will have to disinfect their hands with alcohol, and sign a logbook, said the Vice President.

Social distancing measures will also be observed inside the shuttles, she added.
