MANILA, Philippines — Management of business establishments that are exempted from closure under the enhanced community quarantine in Taguig are required to deploy transportation for their personnel, Taguig city government said on Tuesday.
Under Taguig government’s guidelines for its implemented lockdown, establishments offering basic services should offer transport for their staff.
“Management should provide transportation to their personnel so as long as 50 percent of load capacity of vehicles are maintained,” read the guidelines posted on Taguig’s official Facebook page.
The city government will also deploy transportation services at checkpoints to help health personnel who are frontline workers during the COVID-19 outbreak to reach their respective hospitals.
Movement of essential goods going to and from Taguig City will also be unhampered during the lockdown, as per Taguig government guidelines.
Excluded from the closure of lockdown include “public markets; supermarkets; groceries; convenience stores; hospitals; medical clinics; pharmacies; drug stores; water refilling station; manufacturing and processing plants of basic food and medicine; banks; money transfer services; power; energy water and telecommunication supplies and facilities; sari-sari stores; hardware stores; medical facilities; pawn shops; payment and remittance centers; gas stations; burial and crematory services (funeral services and viewing of wakes prohibited); food preparation; food delivery services and restaurants; business processing outsourcing and media outlets.”
Travel of law enforcers for official business especially those transporting medical supplies, laboratory specimens related to COVID-19 and other humanitarian assistance will be allowed.
Taguig government banned exit and entry from Taguig starting 12 midnight of Wednesday except for delivery of basic goods and supplies.
Curfew
Just like other Metro Manila cities, Taguig also imposed a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to implement stricter home quarantine for residents in the city.
Excluded from the curfew hours are “hospital personnel, staff delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness officials, personnel of exempted business establishments, security personnel in buildings, and peace and order and public safety personnel.”
Philippines currently has 187 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease, including 12 deaths. Of the 187, five cases are from Taguig City.
