Albay town declares state of calamity due to COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY –– The local government of Camalig in Albay declared a state of calamity in the town on Tuesday due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr. said the local council passed a resolution that would allow the local government to use the calamity funds to help the constituents amid the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine.

Baldo has suspended work in public and private offices and establishments, except for health and emergency providers and employees.

All non-food establishments such as resorts, bars, internet shops, billiard halls, and other non-essential businesses were ordered temporarily closed.

Exempted were gasoline stations, hardware, and pharmacies/drug stores./lzb
