MANILA, Philippines — Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri’s wife has tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the lawmaker announced on Tuesday, a day after he said he tested positive for COVID-19.
“The happiest moment of my life is on the news that my wife Audrey, the love of my life and Mother of my three small Children tested negative for the virus. Thank you God above for that. I’m happy that my family is now safe and will continue their self quarantine till this pandemic is over,” he said in a Viber message to reporters.

He also said he is open to have himself tested again for the disease “just to be 100% sure.”
“Today I feel fine. No fever, no body aches, no persistent coughs, so I can consider myself lucky,’ said the senator.
He also revealed that he had traveled to Hong Kong with his wife in early January this year, when no travel ban from the Philippine government has been imposed yet. But he said that trip, since it happened two months ago, had no bearing on his test results.
“If I got infected it was during this last two weeks of work at the Senate. Wherein we were exposed to a lot of visitors from the councilors leagues and Mayor leagues as well and possibly during the CA (Commission on Appointments) confirmations,” he added. “I can only see the possibility being this last two weeks of work.”
Zubiri and other senators went on self-quarantine after one of the resource persons of a Senate hearing on March 5 later tested positive for the disease.
