P13.5M worth of food packs on standby for families in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY –– Families in need in the Bicol region because of the enhanced community quarantine need not worry.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Bicol has prepared P13.5 million worth of food packs to help the local government units (LGU) in the distribution of relief goods for the families affected by the quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

DSWD Bicol director Arnel Garcia said the 30,000 food packs would be distributed to families of persons under investigation, persons under monitoring and communities on lockdown.

Poor families, who have no budget to buy basic needs, would also be prioritized, Garcia said.

“The LGUs can support them for two weeks. We will augment them upon request. We still have a standby fund,” Garcia added.

Each food pack is good for two days for a family of five./lzb
