Nursing student wins two awards

A 19-YEAR-OLD nursing student of Velez College won two awards in the Miss Cebu 2012 Pre-Pageant event held at the Fuente Osmeña Rotunda  Friday night.

Jonnie Rose Louise Wee, a Miss Velez pageant winner in 2010, went home with the Best in Funwear and Miss Mosbeau awards.

Contestant No. 10  emerged as  frontrunner for the grand coronation night scheduled on Jan. 11 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel Pacific Grand Ballroom.

Finalist No. 9 April Ann Claire White of the University of Cebu-Banilad received the Miss Gems and Design award courtesy of Premium Concepts.

FEATURED STORIES

All 12 contestants donned fun wear designed by some of Cebu’s young designers.

The designs of Pinkie Magalona were worn by Michelle Angelique Tan (Finalist No. 1), Ann Caryl Gotingco (Finalist No. 2) and Mary Hazel Watanabe (Finalist No. 3).

Designer Bree Esplanada’s clothes were donned by Rachel Chloe Palang (Finalist No. 4), Cynthia Tac-an (Finalist No. 5) and Pierre Anther Infante (Finalist No. 6).

Roni Yu’s designs were worn by Ella Beverly Sarmago (Finalist No. 7), Herle Kim Artugue (Finalist No. 8) and White.

The reigning Miss Cebu, Mia Zeeba Ali Faridoon, and her court, namely, Aiko Serrano, Vanessa Ammann and Teffanie Llamada took to the stage in gowns designed by Migue Yapchin.

Harvey Cenith was named  Best Designer with his fun wear creations worn by Contestants No. 10, 11 and 12, namely Wee, Shannen Abarquez and Lesly Anne Fernandez.

This year’s board of judges in the pre-pageant were Cebu City Tourism Commission  Philip Rodriguez, fashion designer Protacio Empaces, Mosbeau Cosmetics founder Mitsuhari Hayashi and the reigning Miss Cebu,  Faridoon. /Correspondent Jonas Rey N. Panerio
