Catanduanes capital town imposes curfew but will make no arrests

LEGAZPI CITY—The government of Virac, capital town of Catanduanes province, has imposed a curfew for residents for fear of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Sinforoso Sarmiento Jr., in an executive order, has barred people from going out from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on Tuesday (March 17) until April 14.

Violators would be escorted to their homes if residents while nonresidents would be immediately sent away to their places of origin.

Violators’ names would be listed.

Exempted from curfew are medical personnel, health and emergency workers, accredited media practitioners, employees of public transport utilities, employees of pharmacies, persons in emergency situation and vegetable, meat and fish vendors in the course of their work and duties.
