Catanduanes town to arrest curfew violators, close establishments for fear of COVID-19

LEGAZPI CITY—The local government of Viga town in Catanduanes province has ordered on Monday (March 16) a general curfew and ordered the closure of selected business establishments for fear of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In an executive order, Mayor Emeterio Tarin said the curfew would be from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Anyone caught roaming outside with no justified purpose would be arrested, the mayor said.

Hotels, lodging houses, tourism sites, resorts, computer shops and recreational places, like billiard halls, would be shut.

All town employees would adopt a four-day work week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.
