MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested after he allegedly turned “unruly” as he refused to undergo a checkpoint in Valenzuela City on Monday.
Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), identified the man as Dionisito Sanchez Bonote.
Sinas said the 44-year-old man was riding his bicycle when he arrived at a checkpoint along MacArthur Highway in Malanday, boundary of Meycauayan in Bulacan, at 9:40 a.m. when he was stopped for thermal scanning and verification of identity.
The man, however, “did not cooperate” and instead hurled expletives at the police officers stationed at the checkpoint, according to Sinas.
He also resisted apprehension by authorities, said the NCRPO chief.
Police said the actions of the man “disturbed the tranquility thereat” and “caused alarm for others.”
Complaints for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, alarm and scandal, and unjust vexation will be filed against Bonote.
Sinas earlier warned individuals who will be “unruly” at checkpoints, which were set up amid the community quarantine in Metro Manila to curb the spread of COVID-19, will be arrested by the police.
