Construction site in Makati hit by fire

MANILA, Philippines – Fire struck a construction site near Ayala Avenue in Makati City on Monday afternoon, authorities and netizens said.

According to videos from Facebook users, smoke emerged from the construction site, which sits a few blocks from the country’s prime business district.

Several photos and videos from netizens including motoring journalist James Deakin showed big smokes coming out of the building, which was allegedly the site of the old Intercontinental Manila Hotel.

Volunteers from TXTFire Philippines however said that the fire is currently under control.
