LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A total of 7,704 individuals in the province were listed as Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), local authorities said.
Health officials, however, assured the public that the province remains free of the respiratory disease.
The number of PUMs soared after Pangasinense students returned home after Metro Manila was placed under community quarantine.
The provincial government ordered arriving residents to report to their respective barangay chairman for listing.
A barangay health emergency response team was also activated to monitor the PUMs who are advised to undergo home quarantine for 14 days.
Records from the local health office showed at least 16 from the list of PUMs had already completed their 14-day quarantine period.
As of 8 a.m. on Monday, the province had recorded 11 Patients Under Investigation (PUI) at various hospitals, but five of them were already discharged.
