3 Araneta City malls temporarily close as precautionary measure vs coronavirus

MANILA, Philippines — The three malls of the Araneta City—Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza—will temporarily shut down starting Monday, March 16.

Araneta City’s management made the announcement in a move to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“In support of the Government directives on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and in the interest of public health and safety, the ARANETA CITY Management will temporarily shut down operations of its 3 Malls (Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza) starting March 16, 2020 until further notice,” the management said in a statement.

Essential establishments, however, such as supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, pharmacies, medical and dental clinics, restaurants with take-out and/or food delivery services, and banks and other financial institutions may remain open.

As of Sunday evening, there are 140 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, with the death toll reaching 12.
