BOAC, Marinduque – Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr. issued an executive order banning all travellers from entering the province by air and water beginning Sunday night in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As of 8 p.m. Sunday, travellers were denied entry to the province, except health workers, government officials and employees, drivers and helpers of trucks and vehicles carrying cargo, persons traveling for humanitarian reasons and those granted with permits to enter for valid and justifiable reasons by the governor under the advice of the Task Force COVID-19.
An 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew was also imposed within the province starting Sunday to April 14.
Suspension of classes was also declared from March 16 to 20 to enable disinfecting of all classrooms and school facilities in the province.
Travellers or residents coming from Metro Manila and other areas with confirmed COVID-19 cases are requested to undergo home quarantine for 14 days to be strictly monitored by local health authorities.
Violators of the mandatory quarantine may be fined from P20,000 to P50,000 or imprisoned from one month to six months or both.
As of Monday, Marinduque has no confirmed COVID-19 case, according to the Provincial Health Office.
Seven individuals, however, were tagged as Persons under Investigation for COVID-19 infection, while 24 others are being closely monitored.
