Five members of the Philippine Azkals will be awarding teams coming from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), San Roque Football Club (SRFC), Dedon Canduman, Danao FC and Springdale, who dominated their respective categories  in the  2nd Sinulog Football Cup held in two different venues.

The five Azkals are Cebuano Paolo Pascual, Darren Hartmann, Lexton Moy, Bisagh Bajadoran and Nestorio Margarse.

They will be arriving sometime during lunchtime and will proceed to the San Roque football field and the University of San Carlos Technological Center (USC-TC).

The Philippine Team footballers will be spending at least 15 minutes in each venue. At 4 p.m., they will be at the Cebu City Sports Center for the awarding ceremonies of the age-group categories of the tournament. Afterwards, the five will return to Manila to resume their training.

Happiest of all the teams who competed yesterday were the Magis Eagles after they bagged three championship titles yesterday in this 7-a-side festival type tournament.

SHS-AdC bested their opponents to become champions in the Girls 17, Boys 14 and Players 8 categories.

The Magis Eagles prevailed in a shootout, 2-1, after their titular match against St. Theresa’s College (STC) A ended scoreless in regulation.

SHS-AdC advanced to the finals after emerging on top in another shootout battle against San Roque Football Club (SRFC), 1-0. The match was scoreless in regulation. STC A, on the other hand, thwarted defending champions USC, 1-0, for their finals entry.

In the Boys 14, SHS-AdC frustrated Springdale B for the title after figuring in another shootout. Both teams were scoreless at match end, however, the Magis Eagles proved to have steadier nerves as they prevailed, 2-1, in the shootout.

SHS-AdC trampled Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy, 1-0, in the semifinals; while Springdale B dismissed its sister team Springdale A, 1-0, also in a shootout.

In the Players 8, SHS-AdC blanked Count FC, 2-0, for the title.

Other teams with titles to boast are Springdale, which ruled the Boys 17; SRFC, which dominated the Girls 14; Dedon Canduman, which lorded it over in the Players 6; Danao FC, which reigned supreme in the Players 10; and Springdale A, which emerged on top in the Boys 12.

Matches will resume today with USC-TC hosting the Men’s Open category and San Roque having the Ladies Open and Inter-Company category.
