Camarines Sur suspends classes due to COVID-19 threat

LEGAZPI CITY — The local government of Camarines Sur has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools due to the threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In an executive order, Governor Miguel Luis Villafuerte said classes will be suspended from March 16 to 29. All educational institutions were directed to regularly disinfect their facilities, equipment, and buildings.

Villafuerte also required all towns to establish a single-point unloading area for all buses from Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and other places with COVID-19 positive cases.

Public and private vehicles not bound for the province will not be allowed to make any stopover except at designated areas.

Mandatory 14-day quarantine will also be enforced to all individuals with history of travel to places with confirmed COVID-19 cases, to be monitored by the barangay health workers.

All the local government units were also encouraged to adopt the four-day work week or work from home options except for personnel involved in managing COVID-19, African Swine Fever, and other emergencies.
