MANILA, Philippines — Rockwell Land Corporation announced late Saturday that another one of its residents has tested positive of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the confirmed cases in its property to three.
“As of March 14, 2020, we can confirm a positive case of COVID-19 in Rizal Tower bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Rockwell Center to three,” the upscale property developer said in a Facebook post.
Rockwell said it has started tracing the people who came in contact with the resident and “informing all those found to have been in close contact with the resident to go on self-quarantine as well.”
Earlier, Rockwell announced that two residents of its Joya North Tower, Rockwell Center in Makati tested positive of the virus.
However, it is still unclear as of posting if the patient is part of the 111 cases in the Philippines announced by the Department of Health Saturday evening.
Of the confirmed cases in the country, eight have died, two recovered, while 101 remain admitted in hospitals.
The virus causes mild symptoms such as fever and cough for most people, but experts earlier said that older adults with preexisting health conditions were more vulnerable to the coronavirus, particularly those aged over 60-years-old.
To prevent infection, authorities are urging people to practice regular hand washing, cover the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoid close contact with those who show respiratory symptoms.
The Philippines is currently under a state of public health emergency due to the virus, which originated from Hubei, China.
The World Health Organization declared the disease as a global pandemic after it killed nearly 5,000 people and infected 110,000 others worldwide.
