SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna, Philippines — A resident of Lipa City in Batangas province had tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), an official said Saturday evening.
Lipa City Mayor Eric Africa said he could not disclose any more information, except that the patient “was never confined in any hospital in Lipa City and was directly treated outside Batangas.”
This was the second case of infection recorded in the city, although the first one, disclosed also by Africa earlier on Saturday, was actually a resident of Lemery in Batangas and only sought medical attention in Lipa City.
This, however, was the fourth case in Batangas province, which had also just issued its guidelines on “stringent measures” in the province through a “quarantine advisory” by Governor Hermilando Mandanas.
The provincial government, however, clarified it did not place the province under a “lockdown” or a “community quarantine.”
