MANILA, Philippines — Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez, Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, and several Court of Appeals magistrates are vying for the Supreme Court seat to be vacated on May 11 upon the retirement Justice Andres Reyes Jr.
The other applicants are Appeals Justices Nina Antonio-Valenzuela, Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla, Manuel Barrios, Ramon Bato Jr., Japar Dimaampao, Ricardo Rosario, Edwin Sorongon, Ramon Cruz, Jhosep Lopez, Eduardo Peralta Jr. and Pablito Perez.
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) said it scheduled interviews for the applicants on March 18 and 19.
Any person may submit to the JBC office in Manila by post or email a sworn complaint, report or opposition against any candidate not later than March 24.
Reyes will reach the retirement age of 70 on May 11.
