Malls in San Juan temporarily closed due to coronavirus threat

MANILA, Philippines — Due to the threat brought by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), all malls in San Juan will temporarily stop operations starting March 15, the local government announced Saturday.

In a statement, it read that the operators of the Greenhills Shopping Center, Promenade, Theater Mall and the Santolan Town Plaza talked to Mayor Francis Zamora and agreed to temporarily close the malls until further notice.

Masses in Pinaglabanan Church, Sanctuario de Santo Cristo, Mary the Queen and Santuario de San Jose have also been canceled.

As the country’s number of COVID-19 cases soared, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Metro Manila under community quarantine.
