LUCENA CITY –– Lucban town in Quezon province was placed under an ‘isolation scheme’ under an executive order issued by its mayor to prevent the entry of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On Friday afternoon, Lucban Mayor Celso Olivier Dator issued Executive Order No. 26 that placed the whole town under an “Intensified Preventive Medical Reverse Isolation Scheme Due to Global Outbreak of COVID-19.”
In a text message Saturday, Dator said under the order, Kamay Ni Hesus, the town’s popular Lenten Season destination, would be close effective Friday (March 13) until the end of the month.
When asked if the shrine would be open during Holy Week, he replied: “Wait for the advice of the bishop.”
“But our recommendation is to push for the quarantine and isolation,” Dator added.
The order also includes the putting up of checkpoints in the town’s entry and exit points.
“Aside from the legitimate residents, only those outsiders with important transactions or business will be allowed to enter,” Dator explained in a phone interview on Friday morning./lzb
