Laguna tourist sites closed to avoid COVID-19 spread

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna –– Several tourist sites in Laguna are temporarily closed to tourists to avoid the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the province, which remains COVID-free.

Advisories were issued by municipal governments on social media this week, as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to rise.

The Luisiana Tourism Office announced Friday night that falls Hulugan, Aliw, Bumbungan, and Malaog would be temporarily closed to tourists and visitors.

In Santa Maria, town mayor Cindy Carolino said Friday night that the Marilag Ecopark would be temporarily closed to non-residents and that the 9th Marilag Festival on April 1 to 4 would be postponed.

The Bumbungan Eco Park, cave, and Pueblo El Salvador in Cavinti would be temporarily closed to the public, said the town’s tourism office Thursday night.

The municipal government of Siniloan said on Tuesday that the Buruwisan Multi-Falls on Mount Romelo is closed from March 10 to 22 “to ensure the safety of mountain climbers, visitors, and the local community.”

In Bay, classes in all levels private and public are suspended from March 16 to 17 to give way to school disinfection./lzb
