BOAC, Marinduque—The provincial government is enforcing restrictions on the entry of travellers from Metro Manila, which included a total ban on those coming from infected areas, to keep COVID-19 carriers from spreading infection in the province.
Gov. Presbitero Velasco Jr., a former Supreme Court justice, issued two orders on Friday (March 13) that would bar from entry travellers who had been to areas in Metro Manila infected by COVID-19.
The order would allow entry to Marinduque residents coming from Metro Manila only if they showed no symptoms of the disease, negative for infection and agree to go on a 14-day quarantine.
The order also created a task force with powers to enforce measures to prevent local transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.
It also suspended all classes from March 17 to 20, a period which would be used to disinfect classrooms and school facilities.
As of Friday, Marinduque has no confirmed COVID-19 case, according to the provincial health office.
Only one person in the province is being investigated for COVID-19 infection while 18 others were being monitored.
