The Sandiganbayan Fourth Division wants proof that the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) is working to recover the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcoses.
In a resolution, the antigraft court ordered the OSG to provide information as to the “proper legal action” it has undertaken, or that it intends to undertake, in one of the civil cases against the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his wife, Imelda.
The particular case in question, Civil Case No. 0178, which was filed before the antigraft court more than 20 years ago on Oct. 29, 1997, involves 20 private individuals who allegedly held 3,305 shares of stock for the Marcoses in Eastern Telecommunications.
In the resolution, the court said the case had remained stagnant for more than a year.
The last action undertaken by the OSG, which is the plaintiff in the case, was on Sept. 24, 2018, when it filed a motion to suspend preliminary conference.
Thus, the court directed the OSG to provide it with information as to “the proper legal action it has undertaken or intends to undertake thereon.”
