BARMM’s health minister intensifies efforts to fight COVID-19

The Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro government has intensified efforts to bar the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from spreading into the region, which remains free from the dreaded disease.

Health Minister Saffrulah Dipatuan recommended measures to Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Chief Minister Al-Haj Murad Ahod Ebrahim, including the creation of an interagency task force on COVID-19.

The task force “will formulate policies for the coordinated emergency response and formulate action plans to protect the constituents of BARMM from the threat of COVID-19,” said Dipatuan in a public advisory.

He also proposed for the provision of funds and logistics support to health facilities where patients would be brought.

The BARMM has remained free from the coronavirus disease although it has two persons under investigation.

Dipatuan said of the PUIs is confined in Cotabato Regional Medical Center and the other is in Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.

“Laboratory results are not yet out,” he said.
