MANILA, Philippines — The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Batangas City has reached two, the city’s health officer announced Friday.
“Nagbigay na ng opisyal na impormasyon ang Department of Health (DOH) sa pamahalaang lungsod ng Batangas ngayong hapon ng araw na ito, March 13, na may dalawang kumpirmadong kaso na ng COVID- 19 sa Batangas City,” City Health Officer Rosanna Barrion said in a statement posted on Facebook.
(The Department of Health has given official information to the Batangas City government today, March 13, that there are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Batangas City.)
Hours earlier, a Batangas City resident, who had a history of travel to London, England, was the first case of COVID-19 in the city.
There were no details given about the second patient.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country has already reached 52. It is not sure yet if the patients are already part of that number.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is named SARS-COV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses.
The COVID-19 crisis was considered a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
