Palawan still COVID-free after PUI tests negative

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY –– Palawan remains free from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after one of its persons under investigation (PUI) tested negative for the virus Friday.

“Palawan is still COVID-19 free since PUI1 tested negative. We’re still waiting for the result of PUI2 and PUI3 [which may be expected] earliest tomorrow morning,” Dr. Mario Baquilod, Department of Health (DOH) Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) director, said Friday.

But despite testing negative, the PUI will remain at a private hospital in the city while being continuously treated for pneumonia.

The other two PUIs are being isolated in a government hospital while confirmatory tests are being processed at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

Meanwhile, there are 19 persons under monitoring in Palawan, as of posting time, who were placed on home quarantine in northern Palawan and were being monitored by the Municipal Health Office and the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

“They are not sick but just to be sure they are under quarantine,” said Dr. Mary Ann Navarro, provincial health officer./lzb
