High-powered guns, explosive seized in Camarines Sur clash

LEGAZPI CITY –– Authorities recovered high-powered firearms and explosives after a firefight with suspected New People’s Army (NPA) in Baao town in Camarines Sur province early Friday.

Colonel Roderico Roy Jr., director of Camarines Sur police, said while conducting combat operations, the 2nd Police Mobile Force Company and 83rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army had a 15-minute firefight with 15 members of NPA in Barangay Pugay at 2:40 a.m.

Recovered were two M16 rifles, M1 Garand rifle, and M203 grenade launcher.

No casualties were reported on the government side./lzb
