Liliw, Laguna’s Tsinelas Festival called off due to coronavirus menace

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – The Liliw Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival scheduled from April 28 to May 3, 2020  in Liliw, Laguna, has been canceled for the amid the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat.

Liliw Mayor Ericson Sulibit made the announcement on social media Thursday.

Sulibit said the cancellation was to ensure the safety of the guess and local residents.

No definite date has so far been set for the re-staging of the festival.

The Liliw Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival is an annual event that showcases locally made footwear, particularly the “tsinelas,” which the town is famous for.
