1 dead, 1 hurt in Zambales gun attack

BOTOLAN, Zambales –– A man on board his motorcycle was killed while his back rider was injured when a lone gunman attacked them here on Thursday morning, police said.

Investigators said Randy Diaz, 43, died instantly after he was shot in the nape by the assailant along Zambales-Tarlac Road in Barangay Santiago here around 10:45 a.m.

Diaz’s back rider, identified as Jun Fortin, 44, was injured during the attack.

Diaz and Fortin were traversing the north-bound lane of the road when the assailant fired shots at them.

Authorities are still investigating the possible motive behind the shooting.
