Classes suspended in Tanauan over COVID-19 concerns

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna –– Classes in all levels in private and public schools in Tanauan City in Batangas province are suspended from March 13 to 14, according to a memorandum released Thursday, amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat.

Though Batangas remains free of COVID-19, city mayor Mary Angeline Halili said in the memorandum that the class suspensions are “to facilitate the disinfection of the educational institutions and public places as part of the appropriate measures to repel such threat.”

Citizens were advised to practice preventive measures such as frequent hand-washing or sanitizing, observing coughing etiquette, refraining from touching one’s face, staying at home when sick, seeking medical help in the occurrence of symptoms, getting enough sleep, social distancing, and maintaining a healthy diet.
