LEGAZPI CITY –– A man wanted for several counts of rape and tagged the number one most wanted person in Bacacay town in Albay province was arrested on Wednesday night in Paranas town in Samar province.
Major Jan King Calipay, Bacacay town police chief, said on Thursday that police arrested Joseph Batalla of Barangay Pigcobohan in Barangay Buray, Paranas around 9:30 p.m.
The suspect is facing six counts of rape, two counts of statutory rape, and three attempted rapes with no bail recommended.
Calipay said Batalla had been in hiding since 2014 after he was charged with several counts of rape at a court in Tabaco City.
Policemen from Paranas were expected to turn Batalla over soon.
